Thailand Launches Halal App for Muslim Travelers

There is good news for Muslim travelers. Thailand has launched a new app called 'Halal Route'. This app was developed by the Halal Science Center of Chulalongkorn University.

Thailand has set up a better service for Muslim-friendly travel, where this app can provide information on halal food locations, to finding prayer facilities.

The Halal Route application can be downloaded for free on both iOS and Android devices. According to The Halal Times, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, said that this application has the potential to enhance Thailand's position as a global leader in halal tourism.

“With the Thailand Halal Route App, we are opening new doors for travelers and ensuring their journey in Thailand aligns with their values and lifestyle,” said Sorawong Thienthong during Thailand Halal Assembly 2024 event that held in Bangkok on December 19.

The Halal Route app is available in three languages, including Thai, English and Arabic. So, both domestic and international users can use this app.

So, what does the Halal Route app provide?

• Halal certified food: Muslim travelers can get information on halal-certified restaurants with a curated directory.

• Prayer facilities: The app also has detailed information about nearby mosques and places equipped with prayer rooms.

• Religious Tools: The app also has important information. Such as daily prayer times, Qibla compass and Islamic calendar.

Undeniably, Muslim travelers have a large market and attract the attention of many parties to facilitate their activities while traveling.

By 2023, the global Muslim travel market is increasing strongly with around 145 million Muslim travelers, according to WebinTravel. 

The number of Muslim travelers is expected to increase by 5% by the end of 2024, reaching 168 million travelers. And could increase to 230 million travelers by 2028, with an estimated tourism expenditure of US$225 billion.

Ada kabar baik bagi para wisatawan Muslim. Thailand telah meluncurkan aplikasi baru yang disebut 'Halal Route'. Aplikasi ini dikembangkan oleh Pusat Sains Halal dari Universitas Chulalongkorn.

Thailand telah menyiapkan layanan yang lebih baik untuk perjalanan ramah Muslim, di mana aplikasi ini dapat memberikan informasi tentang lokasi makanan halal, hingga menemukan fasilitas sholat.

Aplikasi Halal Route dapat di diunduh secara gratis baik di perangkat iOS maupun Android. Melansir The Halal Times, Menteri Pariwisata dan Olahrga, Sorawong Thienthong, mengatakan bahwa aplikasi ini memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan posisi Thailand sebagai pemimpin global dalam pariwisata halal.

“Dengan aplikasi Halal Route Thailand, kami membuka pintu baru bagi para wisatawan dan memastikan perjalanan mereka di Thailand sejalan dengan nilai-nilai dan gaya hidup mereka,” kata Sorawong Thienthong dalam acara Thailand Halal Assembly 2024 yang diselenggarakan di Bangkok pada tanggal 19 Desember.

Aplikasi Halal Route tersedia dalam tiga bahasa, diantaranya Thailand, Inggris dan Arab. Jadi, baik pengguna domestik maupun internasional dapat menggunakan aplikasi ini.

Lalu, apa saja yang disediakan oleh aplikasi Halal Route?

• Makanan bersertifikat halal: Wisatawan Muslim dapat memperoleh informasi mengenai restoran bersertifikat halal dengan direktori yang telah dikurasi.

• Fasilitas ibadah: Aplikasi ini juga memiliki informasi rinci tentang masjid terdekat dan tempat yang dilengkapi dengan ruang sholat.

• Fitur Keagamaan: Aplikasi ini juga memiliki informasi penting. Seperti waktu sholat harian, kompas kiblat dan kalender Islam.

Tak bisa dipungkiri, wisatawan muslim memiliki market yang besar dan menarik perhatian banyak pihak untuk memudahkan aktivitas mereka saat berwisata.

Pada tahun 2023, pasar perjalanan Muslim global meningkat dengan kuat dengan sekitar 145 juta wisatawan Muslim, menurut WebinTravel. 

Jumlah wisatawan Muslim diperkirakan akan meningkat sebesar 5% pada akhir tahun 2024, mencapai 168 juta wisatawan. Dan dapat meningkat menjadi 230 juta wisatawan pada tahun 2028, dengan perkiraan pengeluaran pariwisata sebesar US$225 miliar.
